Here and here (sorry) is the translation of Plato's Apology that I will be using in class. You may use another, but it will probably be less confusing and more efficient to use this one. (It is by Allen, whose essays on the Apology we will also be reading.)
For Friday, read the Apology a couple of times, thinking in particular about it as an example of a trial. Consider the charges, how they are presented and explained, and Socrates' response to them. Pay attention too to the jury (the dicasts) and to their legal-functional role in the trial, as well as their behavior during it.
Take some notes and be ready for an Informal Lecture as well as the possibility of a Four Minute Paper. Also be thinking ahead to the Discussion of the dialogue on Monday.
