I have graded the OMPs and will post grades later today or tomorrow morning.
On the whole, they were good. Let me give you a few general thoughts:
1. Almost everyone responded to the prompt, and that's good. Be careful to make sure you do. I will display the prompt or pass it out for the next OMP.
2. Most of you oversimplified matters somewhat. That's going to happen with OMPs, given their nature, but fight against it. Think about salient details and complications. You can't include them all, but including some will make the answers better. I'll say more about this in class.
3. Try to give your answers better shape -- don't reduce them to one block paragraph, but think about the different tasks assigned in the prompt and shape your OMP to reflect those tasks. (One paragraph for the argument of the Laws, one for Socrates' response, one for your evaluation, for example.)
4. Be sure, when I ask you to report what you think, that you respond with an argument. Don't merely report your conclusion, support it with premises, reasons.
5. I kept my finger on the scale. I will take it up next time.
